Nubra Valley: From Leh, highway runs north over the awesome Khardung La, the hightest motorable pass in the world. Beyond the pass is the wide, flat Nubra Valley, criscrossed by the winding channels of the Shyok & Nubra (Siachan) rivers. Local scholars says that its original name was Ldumra ( the valley of flowers). In nubra valley you can visit Diskit Monastery with the tallest statue Maitreya Buddha in Ladakh & Shaggy Bactrian (two - humped) camels in the sand dunes of the Nubra Valley. Dotted around the valley are ancient gompas and awesome villages which makes this magnificent trip. One night stay is a must to explore Nubra Valley.
Day 01: Arrive Leh
Arrive Leh, transfer to Guest House. Day is at rest for acclimatization. Evening, walk around the Leh Bazar. Overnight at Guest House in Leh. (3500m)
Day 02: Drive Leh – Shey – Thiksey – Stok Palace– Leh
After breakfast at the Guest House, drive to Stok (14 km) by crossing Indus River over a Bridge at Choglamsar. Visit the Stok Palace. This Palace built in 1825 by King Tsespal Tundup Namgyal. Great collection of Royal dresses, Armor, statues and Thangkas (Scroll paintings). After the visit, drive to Shey, ancient capital of first King (Lachen Spalgygon) of Ladakh. Visit Shey Palace and other gompas and then drive back to Leh. Overnight at Guest House in Leh. (3500 m)
Day 03: Excursion to Hall of Fame - Pathar Sahib (Gurudwara) - Magnetic Hill - Sangam
Post breakfast, Excursion tour to Sangam (confluence of Indus and Zanskar River). En route visit Hall of Fame (Kargil war hero Museum), Pathar Sahib (Gurudwara) built in the memory of Guru Nanak in 1517AD. Later drive back to Leh. Post Lunch visit Shanti Stupa, Samkar monastery and Leh Palace. Evening explore Leh market. Overnight stay at Guest House in Leh.
Day 04: Drive Leh – Khardung-la (5400m) - Nubra (120 kms)
Morning after breakfast, drive to Nubra, 120 km from Leh and it takes about 4-5 hrs drive, by crossing Khardung-la (The highest motorable road in the world 5400m). On the way, you have amazing panoramic view of Indus valley, Shayok River, Himalayan Mountains and Karakoram Ranges. Post Lunch at Guest House, drive to Hunder where you enjoy the Double humped bacterian camel riding. After then drive back to Deskit (administrative block of Nubra valley) and visit the monastery and recently built huge statue of Maitreya Buddha (100ft, Future Buddha). The most attractive features of Nubra valley is the sand dune. Explore the Nubra valley (The valley of flowers). Overnight at Guest House/ fixed camp. (3165m)
Day 05: Drive Nubra - Leh (120 kms)
Morning, after breakfast, drive back to Leh along the same road. Arrive Leh by afternoon. Post Lunch free to explore Leh. Overnight in Leh.
Day 06: Drive Leh – Pangong Lake – Leh (149 kms one way)
Early morning drive to Pangong Lake 149 km from Leh. Today you cross Chang-la (The world's third highest motorable road in the world 5300m). On the way, you enjoy awe inspiring amazing view of charming villages, beautiful mountains, animals like Yaks and marmots, nomads and Chanthang valley. Arrive at Lake, the Lake is 136 km long and 5-10 km wide, 47% of this lake is in India and rest is in Tibet. The view of lake is spectacular and breathtaking. Spend few hours there while overwhelming, captivating the beauty of nature and later on drive back to Leh. Overnight at Guest House in Leh. (3500m)
Day 07: Flight Leh – Delhi
Early morning transfer to airport to fly back to Delhi with sweet memories of Ladakh.
